Design Wall Monday with ties

I've been plugging away on the tie quilt ... I have 1/3 of the blocks sewn. The other two thirds have the fan arcs pinned down, just waiting for the center to be ironed and put on. All the ties and shirts were from the same person :)

I LOVE your tie/shirt quilt! What a neat pattern to use with the ties. When my dad died a number of years ago, we saved just a few of his ties (I wasn't a quilter then), but I was able to make small little quilts for my brothers with what we had. How special this quilt will be.

I also love this quilt. I have a bag of ties that I've been wanting to do something very similar with, sort of a dresden-plate-y thing like you're doing. I was going to just use the ties as-is and sew them down onto the backing, but I dug around and see you deconstructed and washed the ties first - then re-made tie shapes out of them? More work but nice and clean, and not so bulky. Very clever. I can't wait to see the final result!
